Featured: Bastille Day!

Happy Bastille Day! July 14th marks a significant event in France’s history: the start of the French Revolution in 1789 and the invasion of the Bastille. In honor of this occasion, I wanted to share a few of our favorite French inspired photographs. Enjoy!

"Rock Point" by Daniel Bahn

"Rock Point" by Daniel Bahn

I am drawn to bright red artwork like a moth to a flame.  Warm and colorful, red is the perfect candy coating for any wall.  Colorado artist Daniel Bahn combined red with deep browns and golden tans to create “Rock Point”, a piece that has a fine, earthy glow.  Like many of his other pieces, “Rock Point” is an abstraction of nature, capturing the essence and unpredictability of a landscape and giving it a contemporary abstract appeal.  And it’s double the pleasure with this piece – “Rock Point” is a diptych you’ll have fun arranging, dividing, and rotating to create a little unpredictability of your own.  It’s yours for $3,200.

Featured: Red & Blue

Nothing says summer quite like a burst of strawberry red and Mediterranean blue.  While traditionally patriotic, these colors can still be fresh for your projects.  (Or just look really great above your desk.)

"Abandoned Farmhouse in Field" by Randall Roberts

"Abandoned Farmhouse in Field" by Randall K. Roberts

Photographer Randall K. Roberts has captured many lovely photographs, but I think this one takes the cake.  The vibrant green field is a perfect setting for this old farmhouse, creating a lovely juxtaposition of life and death, past and future, old and new.  It’s a photograph you could easily fall into, and what’s better than art that triggers a good daydream?  Get ready to treat yourself: Prints begin at just $70.

"Waxing & Waning" by Ben Mollner

"Waxing & Waning" by Ben Mollner

Often my tastes exceed my own personal budget, and you can bet I’ll be jealous of the lucky soul who goes home with Ben Mollner’s “Waxing & Waning”.  Channeling a little bit of Magritte’s “Son of Man”, the wonderful use of shadows and a half hidden face capture an element of mystery.  This one of those pieces destined to leave you wildly conjecturing about the story within it.  Only one of us can own the original.  Snag it up for $4000.
