Put it all on the BACK...I don't put anything on the front, for so many reasons...But on the back, I paint in the title, the media used, the size, the date, & any other modifications that will be important to restorers...(I do gesso the back first, & paint in my words using a tube of dark oil paint, just squeezing it out to write directly)...I also put a Fine Art registry security tag on the back of every work of art, that links to a webpage on their site with further details & provenance records- or what gallery the work is in & where & for what price point...I can print a certificate of Authenticity from those records easily-which is more important as a marketing tool than documentation, as these things can easily be forged...But neat to be able to do...

That's cool. I haven't seen an actual artwork made of Felt but I think it would be awesome to see it in person.

Printmakers always put a date in the title line, whereas other art mediums aren't always dated on the actual art piece. This can cause problems with juried artshows where there generally is a "completed in the last two years" rule. Many other artists seem to fudge their completion dates for these shows, since ther actual art doesn't depict a date. If the art fits the show theme, the date completed shouldn't matter. In cases of no theme, I can understand the date rule.
Also, new doesn't always mean fresh or better . I've often sold older art because of client's personal preference.

Hi Melinda! We simply posted the call for entries - we are not affiliated or have any part in their process. Sorry for the confusion. Your best bet is to call either establishments directly. Thanks!

That's a bummer! One would think they'd know more about their own call for entry, but that's how it goes sometimes. Thanks for reading anyway! I look forward to more comments from you.

Thanks Jessica. I telephoned the Aspen Art Museum when I read your blog post.
They couldn't answer the deadline question either, unfortunately. In a very pleasant voice one young lady told me that I could call FedEx for that day's pickup in Denver and get same day delivery in Aspen!!! Whoa. It must be the altitude.

I declined.
But, I'll check back to your blog again.
