Mary Joy Stone
Aurora, Colorado - United States

Chasing art has been the story of my life from a very young age with many side trips and I've loved it that way. It led to my approach and painting style today.  I call it impressionist expressionist fine art. I floundered on my own having no art in school until I got to college to pursue a science degree, that and painting with many master artists in workshops and at The Art Students League of Denver.  I am of the Quang Ho school and philosophy. I studied with my friend Kevin Weckbach another master for over three years to take my art to the next level.  I hope to achieve my true creative dream:  to be able to paint more intuitively, to get in and stay in "the zone".  To quote Kevin, "All painting is abstract after all, isn't it?" I just hope I can continue to grow as an artist and to struggle and have some fun too, what I think art is all about.

Mary Joy grew up in Colorado and calls it home and so therefore paints the west.It has been said that Mary Joy is an atmospheric painter who has a way with color.  She says she has to experience what she paints, be there, see it, feel  it, and likes to tell a story in her painting.  She slants toward the abstract.  So though she may approach many subjects from representational to pure abstract she still has that recognizable style, which doesn't always really fit into one category.  Do you agree?  Totes or just bits?  (Completely or partially?)
