ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

Artwork Network’s summer exhibit, Chromatic, is a celebration of color. The contemporary paintings of Tracy Lynn Pristas, Jonathan McAfee, and Ron Trujillo capture eye-catching hues in paintings of abstracted landscapes, florals, and faces.

"I have always been intrigued by nature, patterns, color, puzzles, healing modalities, and the power of the intuitive process,” says Tracy Lynn Pristas. The bold hues, layers and textures in Pristas’ paintings create a strong visual stimulus. Not a replication of what is seen in nature, but elements of it, with an aim to effect and elevate the viewer’s consciousness.

This transformation is key in the work of Jonathan McAfee, too. His artistic focus has largely been portraits for the last few years, allowing bold, colorful paint strokes to reimagine the faces of both the every-day people and well known figures throughout pop culture and history. But McAfee does not aim to convey the stories or the backgrounds of the people he paints, but to observe and make something his own.

Ron Trujillo is also greatly influenced by (a) person – namely his son, and the early years of his role as primary care giver. The creation of voluntary and involuntary marks, sprays, fingerprints, spills and splatters are what form his art into a sophisticated and layered compilation. Later, his son’s studies of Chinese as a second language led to the reintroduction of Asian influences.

Transformation, influence, elevation – Chromatic is an interesting observation into color and psyche. The Artwork Network Gallery invites you to explore this curated collection from June 2 to August 3, 2017.
